Serayah Peters is a crossover artist located in Abilene, Texas. She was first seen on stage as Madame de la Grande Bouche in Clyde High School’s Production of Beauty and the Beast. From that moment, she realized her passion for performing was only getting started. She also immersed herself in the school’s choral education program where she participated in UIL Solo and auditioned for the Texas All-State Choir. From dramatic roles such as Hester Swane in By the Bog of Cats and Ursula from The Little Mermaid to choral success in the Inaugural Small School All-State Choir, Serayah wanted to further her education in the fine arts.

Serayah Peters graduated summa cum laude from Hardin-Simmons University with her Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Choral) Grades EC-12 in 2019. Even though she studied choral education, she continued her passion for performance. As a four-time National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) semi-finalist, Serayah realized she had a newfound appreciation for classical music. She brought her passion for performance and appreciation for classical music to her roles in HSU’s Opera Program. She performed as Mrs. Nolan in The Medium, Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, and Anna Glawari in The Merry Widow. She also performed with HSU’s Musical Theatre Program in Godspell and Little Women. All this experience made Serayah one of the most versatile musicians in Hardin-Simmons’ School of Music.

Serayah was the music director for Clyde High School’s musicals for six years, where she worked on Oklahoma!, Legally Blonde, and The Wizard of Oz. Currently, she serves as the Music Director for Chorus Abilene’s a cappella ensemble, BackBeat, and beginner adult choir, Abi-Voice. With the help of the Executive Director, Abigail Payne, Serayah started BackBeat and Abi-Voice and has challenged the ensembles with repertoire from various genres and eras.

Serayah is also a voice teacher for students in fifth through twelfth grade. She has taught since 2018 and has helped many students achieve their healthiest and best voice. As a crossover artist, Serayah works with students who need guidance for All-State Choir, musicals, audition prep, and more.

Serayah served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Abilene Philharmonic Association from January 2020 to March 2024. During her time there, she has obtained business and administration skills within the fine arts world to further her goal of becoming a well-rounded musician. She gained experience in social media and email marketing, ticketing and CRM software management, interpersonal skills with donors and members, and more. She currently serves as the Director of Annual Giving at McMurry University.

Even though she is incredibly busy, she still finds time to perform. In February of 2020, Serayah performed with the Abilene Philharmonic in the Jerry Herman: The Broadway Legacy Concert as one of The ASCAP Foundation Jerry Herman Broadway Legacy Prize recipients. Serayah's debut solo recital as part of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest’s Chamber Music Concert Series was in November of 2022. Her most recent musical theatre roles were Nettie Fowler in McMurry’s Summer production of Carousel (2021) and Matron Mama Morton in McMurry’s summer production of Chicago (2022). She also had her debut as the soprano soloist for Chorus Abilene’s performance of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (2023). Most recently, she was featured as the the soprano soloist for Chorus Abilene’s performance of Mozart’s Requiem (2024).
